Gaming Computers VS Game Consoles | Betaforce PC Knowledge ...

The Sega Dreamcast was the first gaming console that implemented a modem for online gameplay. More than a decade later, all gaming consoles come with the ability to get online and challenge players around the world. The investment of a gaming console is debated by a lot of consumers because of its versatility. Sure, you can use the PS3 web browser to check your emails, but who really wants to do that? Gaming PCs are stocked with large amounts of RAM, monster CPUs and custom graphics cards. If you don?t know whether you should buy a gaming console or a gaming computer, there are a few things you should consider before making your purchase.

?Games

?There are thousands of games that are compatible with the PC while there are fewer games that are compatible with consoles. PC games have been manufactured for over a decade while consoles are constantly upgrading. When a new release comes out on PC, you can simply add it to your library. With a console, you will have to upgrade to the newest console in order to play new releases. If you have a gaming PC, you will simply need to upgrade your operating system. This is a cheaper option and should be implemented with any computer.

?Multiplayer

?Multiplayer games give users a way to easily connect with other players online. If you have a console then you will only be able to connect with players on that console. For instance, PS3 players will only be able to connect with other PS3 players instead of having the ability to connect with Xbox 360 players or Nintendo Wii players. With a gaming console, players will be able to connect with everybody that is on a PC, Linux or Mac computer.

?Upgrades

?A console comes as is while a gaming PC can be upgraded within a couple of minutes. If you don?t have the right specs for a certain game, you can add RAM, replace your CPU or even install a whole new motherboard with little hassle. You will not be able to upgrade your console until the newer version comes out. If your console breaks, you will have to either send it out for repair or replace the entire unit. Although nobody would consider a hard drive crash as something good, you can always replace the hard drive with little cost.

?Universality

gaming computer

?A gaming console is really meant for gaming while a gaming PC is still a PC. A gaming PC is simply a computer that has been optimized for gaming. It can still get online and run different programs so you have a universal machine. Consoles are starting to implement more computer-like features in their platforms, but nothing works as well a computer for productivity.
